We believe, as our mission statement illustrates, in being God's Helping Hands. We were doing God's work individually or with each other. Glenn Gaddis was moved to take on a big project, making a home livable for a woman and her family. As we were doing the project we found resources and others that were doing God's work and felt moved to do more. We found we could operate like an unincorporated nonprofit association, we had at least three or more folks involved and were working for a common nonprofit purpose. Unincorporated Nonprofit Associations: Section 252.001 of the BOC defines an unincorporated nonprofit association as an unincorporated organization consisting of three or more members joined by mutual consent for a common, nonprofit purpose http://www.sos.state.tx.us/corp/nonprofit_org.shtml We collected material and organized helpers on the first project and then others. People wanted to do more than donate supplies and help, they wanted to donate money. We could not give a tax deduction, we were working with those that do that sort of thing when we could. We soon decided to kick it up a notch and form a non-profit corporation with the purpose of helping by being God's Helping Hands. We decided to form a non-profit corporation and then become an exempt organization, the 501(C)(3) organization everyone was encouraging us to be. We have since formed the non-profit corporation. https://sosdirectws.sos.state.tx.us/pdfondemand/CertValidation.aspx Document Number 285933000002 attach our Certificate of Formation - Form 202... and are an exempt organization, a 501(c)(3).Praise the Lord!!! and we are continuing to be God's Helping Hands. |
